Shirley Ng-Benitez

Shirley Ng-Benitez is an author/illustrator with a love for art, storytelling, and all things handmade. She’s had the honor of illustrating numerous board books, picture books, and an award-winning early reader chapter book series. DOWN, THROUGH, UP, from HarperCollins Children’s books, is her debut picture book and will release March 2, 2027.

With a background in handlettering and graphic design, she’s always experimenting with letters, mixed media, painted & cut paper, and more. Shirley has a deep wish to build more connection and compassion in the world through her work. She founded AWEtober (shirleyngbenitez.com/awetober), an art auction fundraiser supporting victims of the California wildfires, and coral restoration efforts around the globe. She lives in the beautiful Bay Area with her family and two black cats, Miso & Luna.
