Youa Vang was born in Thailand, raised in Minnesota, and now lives in Los Angeles, where stories seem to gather in the quiet corners of everyday life. He works in the entertainment industry as a background painter, concept designer, and visual development artist, and teaches part-time at his alma mater, ArtCenter College of Design.
When the day’s work is done and the world grows still, Youa turns to writing and illustrating picture books and graphic novels—stories shaped by curiosity, kindness, and a deep love of small, magical details. He believes wonder lives in ordinary moments, and his work invites readers to daydream their way into fantastical journeys grounded in human emotion, through images that linger like memories borrowed from another life.
His picture book illustration debut, WORTHY: The Brave and Capable Life of Joseph Pierce, written by award-winning author Andrea Wang, received starred reviews from Booklist and School Library Journal.
